What is affirmative action, who does it benefit, and is it still in practice today?
Q. I heard people talk about affirmative action in school one day. As I was listening, I heard that some people believe it was discriminatory because it favored certain groups of people. These people were white. The people for affirmative action were not white and ranged from Hispanic, black, or Arab/middle east. Unfortunately, I was too shy to ask what this whole thing was about. So does anyone know what this is? Does it help certain groups of people, and if so, which ones? Additionally, is affirmative action still in practice today? Is it still a "hot" topic in America? Does it relate to advantages in the workplace? Higher Education?

A. Affirmative action only benefits lazy, stupid and unmotivated minorities. If you're a minority which has worked hard and is deserving of the job/position, this hurts you. Your resume means nothing, your education means nothing, your work history means nothing.. because it's so hard to tell if you were just an "affirmative action hire" or if you were good at what you do. It hurts society as a whole, because we're not always putting the best people in key positions.
