Q. I'm lesbian and I've thankfully never had to deal with homophobia, but I was wondering what does it actually feel like when someone acts weird to you because of your sexuality? Being lesbian feels so normal to me that I don't understand what there is to be upset about, but obviously people do have problems with it :]. Thanks!

A. Well...I remember I was in the city on my way to college and I accidentally bumped into a man walking towards me. I told him I was very sorry and he looked at me and said "watch where you're going fa ggot" He was like 30 something. It was the first time an adult called me a fa ggot. I was 18. Three years later my best friend and I got in a confrontation with a group of frat guys. They beat us to a bloody pulp. Five of them, two of us. We were just going to the bar across the street in a popular gay district we call the "gayborhood". My friend never made it to the hospital, he died on the way; and I nearly so...
